My SMART Goals Book

Kate Ifarajimi

What sets wise individuals apart is their ability to keep tabs on their thoughts.

I used to set yearly goals, only to discover by the year's end that many had slipped from my memory, and some were rather vague. Seeking a remedy, I began journaling my thoughts, lessons learned, actions, and desired outcomes. However, the lack of a dedicated journal hindered effective tracking; I would jot down entries wherever I could, using whatever book was available.

Recognizing the need for clarity in my goals, especially the vague ones, I embraced the SMART approach. For instance, instead of a broad goal like "read books this year," I broke it down to "read one book per month, at least a chapter per day, at this specific time." Journaling became instrumental in forming the daily habit of reading.

During moments of perceived stagnation, revisiting my journal revealed accomplishments and highlighted areas for personal growth.

To embark on the intentional journey of self-improvement, consider documenting your vision, goals, and processes in a notepad. Embrace the SMART principle, facilitating well-informed decisions. Journaling your journey is a pathway to becoming a better person and living life excellently.
