Recently, I was disturbed by the voice of chicks crying and I wondered where such sound came from. I got up and traced the voice and lo there was a mother hen hovering over her chicks in my Kitchen corridor.
My neighbour rears Chicken and they move around but I was surprised they decided to visit my kitchen corridor.
As soon as I stepped out, the mother hen got up and acted like it was going to fight me. Imagine... I brought out a broom and chased it away but its chicks were still there. Mother hens like that can be really scary, just don't touch their chicks. I'd chased the mother hen, although it stood around and was watching out for when I would leave so it could come back and hibernate on its chicks.
My kitchen corridor has a one-block fence so it will take skills and a lot of time for chicks to fly out.
As soon as Mother Hen flew out, one of the chicks immediately flew out but there were nine others stuck in my corridor still crying and trying to fly out.
I watched with keen interest as some of them tried to jump out of the one-block fence but they could not, I decided to help them so I found a broken block in the kitchen and placed it on the floor for them to use as a ladder to fly out. At first, I thought they wouldn't be smart to think of jumping on the broken block but they did now here are the analysis and life lessons I picked from watching The Mother Hen, her chicks and the broken block.
As soon as I placed the block on the floor and the chicks noticed they could perch on it, some made attempts but one chick stood on the broken block and didn't try to fly out while its siblings did. After a long while, it flew and once it flew, it flew out. Another chick didn't perch on the broken block immediately, it stood on the floor and after a while, it jumped on the broken block and at once flew out of the one-block fence. There were three others left trying to get out to no avail and after much trial, two were able to jump out much later. There was a chick left, this chick is the smallest of them all and it had been trying to fly out since its mother flew out. The mother hen didn't leave, it lurked around to see what I would do with her chicks. I was moved to compassion seeing this chick trying to fly out without being able to. I checked the kitchen for another stone to make a two-step ladder for our dear chick but before I came out of the kitchen, it had already flown out.
The lessons I picked are:
- In life, when we are presented with opportunities, some people would have access to opportunities and be able to maximise them and make better use of them and profit from them.
- Some would see the opportunity but plan well to ensure they do not miss out on their first trial
- Some would watch around and see what people are doing wrong before trying that opportunity so that at their first trial, they would have results.
- Some will keep trying to make it and it will be so obvious and they will not give up until they get what they want.
- Some will try and it would look like things are working against them. they may even be the first to get wind of an opportunity but may not get it, such people would have to keep trying until there is a result.
Some might be like the thin chick. Do not wait till their strength is exhausted before you try to help them. They will make it if they don't give up, but you can create an easier step for them in life.
The mother hen couldn't bring her chicks out, your family members may not be able to help you, don't be offended.
Finally, learn to contribute to people's growth and development instead of pitying partying with them.
Let me know what you think of the chicks and the mother hen.
Thank you for reading.
